After decades in banking and investment management with some of the world’s top financial services firms, co-founders David, Quentin, and Jeremy joined forces on an entrepreneurial journey, directing their financial experience and investor network towards Asia’s fast growing FinTech lending space.
Helicap provides investors with access to exclusive deal flow in SEA with strong risk-adjusted returns. In January 2018, Helicap was born out of an apartment in Singapore; today, it employs over 20 professionals with two MAS-regulated subsidiaries and offices in Singapore, Malaysia, France and Dubai.
David has a decade of experience across investment banks - Morgan Stanley, Credit Suisse, and Nomura. He left banking in 2016 to establish 33 Capital, a tech-focused investment firm investing in FinTech and e-commerce startups in Southeast Asia. Among its successes, 33 Capital led a Series B investment in a FinTech payments company which was recently listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange. His experience with 33 Capital made him realize how difficult it was for private investors to find quality alternative investment opportunities due to the lack of access. He decided to use his knowledge and experience in wealth management and venture capital to create a tech-enabled platform that would become investors’ go-to partner for sourcing private investment opportunities with healthy risk-return profiles. He was awarded Top FinTech Leader by the Singapore FinTech Association in 2019 and was a Singapore Founder Finalist for the MAS FinTech Awards in 2020. He graduated from the National University of Singapore as a University Scholar, with a semester abroad at the University of Southern California. He also holds a certification in FinTech from MIT. In his free time, he enjoys sports, wine, and travelling with his family.
With more than 15 years of experience in Southeast Asian markets, Quentin is a seasoned investment professional who has invested across the capital structure. Before co-founding Helicap, he was a venture partner at renowned venture capital firms, including 33 Capital and Via iD, and the Deputy CFO of MC Payment, a regional FinTech company providing omni-channel payment solutions, where he met his fellow co-founder David Z Wang. Prior to that, Quentin was an Executive Director at Bongo Capital, a family office investing across industries in Indonesia and Europe. He was also part of the founding team that set up and ran the asset management arm for the group, during which he obtained the Investment Manager License certified by Indonesia’s OJK in 2012 (fka Bapepam-LK). He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Management, majoring in Finance, from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management in Belgium. He is also fluent in French and conversational in Bahasa Indonesia.
Prior to becoming Helicap’s COO, Jeremy was a Director at Jia Shing Enterprise – a family owned- business and family office in Singapore – and a Director at JL Capital, which managed a billion dollar Global Macro Hedge Fund. Throughout his career, he spent considerable time at both front and back office functions, and spearheaded the launch of a structured bond fund; and launched numerous new funds in various jurisdictions including Singapore, Delaware, the Cayman Islands, Mauritius and Cyprus. Jeremy holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration with Honours and a Minor in Technopreneurship from the National University of Singapore, where in 2004, he first met fellow Helicap Co-Founder David Z Wang.
